Milk teeth need as much care and attention as do permanent teeth. It is a myth that one need not treat milk teeth, as they will eventually fall off. Decay and infection of milk teeth affects the health and condition of the underlying permanent teeth, even before they erupt.
Besides the health of permanent teeth, certain kind of malformations can be treated successfully and in a non-invasive manner at an early age. For this reason, a child’s first visit to an Orthodontist must be as early as 7 years of age. At this age, mapping and modifying teeth and jaw growth may be easier and more convenient than altering the same at a later age.
